Taiwanese Server System and Motherboard Industries - Taiwan Server Market Shipment Rebound Continued Well into 2016

Shipment volume of the Taiwanese server Market reached 2.05 million and 2.22 million units in the third and fourth quarter of 2015, up 6.1% and 11.3% year-on-year. The industry however is anticipated to have around 2.04 million server systems shipped in the first quarter of 2016, up 8.1% year-on-year according to the report “Taiwanese Server System and Server Motherboard Industry 2016”.Following a lackluster performance in the first half of 2015, the industry has witnessed a rebound in shipment volume since the third quarter of 2015 and the year-on-year growth is likely to continue well into the second half of 2016.

Looking ahead to 2016, large ISPs will continue to have increasingly needs for application services and therefore their demand for data centers will sustain," explains Hsieh. "Despite so, global economic uncertainty is believed to still play a large part in affecting the adoption willingness of server systems and to what extent should merit further observation.
The report finds that shipment volume of the Taiwanese server industry grew 8.3% sequentially and 11.3% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2015, bolstered mainly by the needs in the enterprise market. Among all kinds of server products, server motherboards share of shipment volume in the server industry dropped below 50% in the fourth quarter.

Augmented Reality Smartglasses Market Shipments to Top One Million Units Forecasts to 2018

This year's CES and MWC both reported an increase in the number of exhibitors for Augmented Reality Smartglasses Market, growing from only a handful to more than 100 vendors showcasing prototypes, samples, and final products, according to report “Development Trends of Augmented Reality Smartglasses”.

Although AR and VR can oftentimes be blurred, they have significant differences that should not be overlooked. VR headsets are mainly used for gaming purposes, while Augmented Reality smartglasses have redirected their use to enterprise market.

As AR companies continue to enhance basic and advanced features for the enterprise market and make improvements to draw individual consumers, smartglasses is anticipated to become more widely accepted," report explains. "The increase of business uses and growth of shipment volume will in turn stimulate the development of key components and bring down production cost. As such, it is predicted that by 2018, shipment volume of smartglasses will reach 1 million units.

The launch of Google Glass at Google I/O 2012 has brought a fresh new outlook to the head-mounted display and wearables industry. Despite Google’s decision to terminate production and sales later in 2015, the development of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and head-mounted displays has continued uninterrupted.
